Is Kevin Rudolf the new star in the city?

We'll tell you...

As eleven year old boy, Kevin Rudolf started to play the guitar. A few years later, when he was more specialized, Kevin began to work for famous personalities and bands like Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake and the Black Eyed Peas. On 24th November 2008 he published his debut album ‘ In The City ‘ via Cash/Money Universal Republic, which includes the popular song ‘ Let It Rock ‘, featured by Lil’ Wayne.

The lyrics are mostly easy to understand and often deal with his way to success and party. So there’s no surprise when he sounds a bit arrogant, e.g.‘ I’m the star of the city ‘.
The songs are arranged well, because they bring you in different moods. A calming and relaxing song, e.g.‘ 1 Song ‘ and ‘ Scarred ‘, is followed by a fast song which makes you dance, e.g. ‘ Let It Rock ‘.
Unfortunately, the quality of the singer´ s voice is quite alternating. In some songs he sounds clear and soft. One point of criticism is that ´In The City´ contains many tracks which singly sound groovy and good, but from time to time the voice of Kevin Rudolf gets on your nerves and the songs become a bit monotonous and ordinary.

All in all, ‘In the City ‘is not an exploding lucky bag full of great unique songs, it’s more like a good and quite successful album- the same as many others.
The album is just worth buying for real Pop and Rock fans.
