Rating: (out of five)

Nelly Furtado´s voice remains one of the most powerful in pop in the 21st century.
So it’s certainly no surprise that her third album ´Loose´ won 39 times Platin and 6 times Gold.
But this multi-talent did not only produce three albums (what I actually think is very much), she is also an actress! In ´CSI; New York, ´Nelly Furtado performed as a pregnant thief, for example.
The 30 years old Portuguese Lady is absolutely no pop crooner, as she prooved in songs like ´Maneater´ or ´Promiscuous`, but sometimes she makes brilliant singles that sound very romantic, for example ´All good things´. You really have to admire this album, which is full of different songs and song types. So it didn’t take that long until big stars like Timbaland came and wanted to sing with her. And what follows when two big voices from two big stars come together? Great singles like ´Promiscuous´ or ´Say it right´.

With her album ´Loose´ Nelly Furtado has reached pop star status. Perhaps the album has reached the top of the charts because some singles were produced by TImbaland, who is one of the world’s best producers.

One of the most romantic songs of this album is `All good things´ that sounds very sad. Because of that, the lyrics fit very well to the sound. In this song, the same question arises all the time:
“Why do all good things come to an end?”
And there are also examples like “Flames to dust” or “Lovers to friends”. All in all, there is no message maintained, but if you listen to it for a few times, you know the message is:
>> Enjoy your life, and enjoy every minute of it<<

´´In god’s hands´ has the same characteristics. It’s also a sad love song. The background guitar melody is repetitive and you feel like you can “fall” into this song.
The message is nearly the same and also the music sounds like other hits like ´I’m like a bird´ or ´Try´.

The song ´Say it right’ seems to be everyone’s favourite. In five of seven countries it reached the number one of the single charts. The singer’s voice is female, but sometimes in the background there sings a man, too. This man is Timbaland, the producer of the song. A special phrase of the song is when she says he doesn’t mean anything to her at all, but then she sings she wants to show him what she feels in the night. I think it doesn’t make sense. The melody and lyrics are completely different than in other songs.

Of course not everything is good on her album. There are also songs that get on one’s nerves, songs like ´Glow´, which is really not my favourite one. You can hardly understand the lyrics, but I think that the music belongs to the message. And misfortunes never come singly… ´Afraid’ belongs to the bad songs, too. Nelly Furtado´s voice sounds squeaky and talent isn’t set into the lights.

Nelly Furtado sticks constantly by her music genre.
She has a great recognition value, which reserves her a place in the pop star sky.
Her most successful album, Loose, got many prices and awards; the album has a lot of good songs, however, it isn’t so fantastic that we can give all five microphones.
All in all it’s worth buying it if you like the voice of Nelly Furtado.
